Understand the environment before the design goes too far.

Native vegetation, wildlife habitat and other ecological values can influence the layout and assessment of a development. Bringing ecology into the conversation early helps you understand what needs investigation and how it relates to your plans.

If council has requested an ecology report, start by sharing the request with us. We can help establish the scope and coordinate the specialist input needed.

BDAR assessments.

A Biodiversity Development Assessment Report (BDAR) assesses the biodiversity impacts of a proposed development. If your project needs a BDAR, we help establish the scope, coordinate an accredited Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) assessor and bring the findings into your planning application.

Whether you are exploring redevelopment or responding to a council request, share your property details, plans and any existing reports. We can help you understand the assessment pathway and the specialist input your project needs.

Arboricultural impact assessments.

Planning an extension, a new home or a subdivision near existing trees? An Arboricultural Impact Assessment (AIA) considers how the proposed works could affect trees and what measures can help protect those being retained.

We coordinate a suitably qualified consulting arborist to assess the relevant trees, review the proposal and recommend tree protection measures. Bringing this advice into the design process helps address tree retention, potential impacts and council information requests before construction begins.

Planning and environmental considerations come together on every site.

The right report for your project.

Ecology requirements vary with the site, proposal and approval pathway. We first discuss the project and the information already available, then confirm the proposed scope and specialist involvement.

Where a report requires a particular qualification or accreditation, it needs to be prepared by an appropriately qualified specialist. We will clarify who is preparing the report and their role before engagement.

Planning and ecology, considered together.

Our planning team can help connect ecological and arboricultural findings to the development application and coordinate with the other people involved in your project.
